The University of Delaware's David M. Nelson Athletic Complex, stands as the premier multi-sport destination in the Mid-Atlantic, blending storied tradition with state-of-the-art innovation. With high-capacity venues like the 18,500-seat Delaware Stadium and the versatile 5,000-seat Bob Carpenter Center, the complex is engineered to host everything from elite NCAA championships and professional exhibition games to regional youth tournaments and high school state finals. Its professional-grade surfaces—ranging from the natural Bermuda grass of Grant Stadium to the advanced synthetic turf of the newly renovated Softball and Bob Hannah Stadiums—ensure championship conditions for any sport. Supported by the cutting-edge Whitney Athletic Center and a strategic location between Philadelphia and Baltimore, this complex offers the scale, technology, and championship-caliber infrastructure to elevate any sporting event to a national stage.

The Bob Carpenter Center is the premier multi-purpose arena in the region and serves as the vibrant heart of the University of Delaware's indoor athletic programs. Named in honor of R.R.M. "Bob" Carpenter Jr., a long-time university benefactor and former Philadelphia Phillies owner, "The Bob" provides a high-energy home for Blue Hens Men’s and Women’s Basketball and Volleyball.
Acierno Arena: The center’s primary arena section is named for Frank E. Acierno and offers a seating capacity of approximately 5,000. It has a storied history of hosting major athletic milestones, including NCAA Tournament events and multiple conference championships.
Expanded Practice Facilities: A 45,000-square-foot addition completed in 2012 significantly enhanced the venue, adding two full-sized practice gymnasiums used by varsity teams, club sports, and intramurals. This wing also houses modern team lounges, film rooms, and specialized offices for basketball and volleyball coaching staffs.
Professional Grade Amenities: The facility is equipped with comprehensive support spaces, including a 120-person football locker room, dedicated basketball locker rooms, the Chuck Hall Memorial Weight Room, and advanced athletic training suites. For strategy and media, it features a 120-seat lecture hall and three classroom meeting areas.
The Bob Carpenter Club: This premium, glass-walled reception lounge is a signature feature of the building. It provides an upscale environment for hospitality and events, offering unique, dual views into both the Acierno Arena and Delaware Stadium.
Events Hosted: DIAA Volleyball and Basketball Championships, Beast of the East Wrestling, Special Olympics of Delaware Basketball, Cheer Expo, and Liberty Championships.
Delaware Stadium is the iconic outdoor centerpiece of the University of Delaware athletic complex. Serving as the home for Blue Hens Football and both Men’s and Women’s Lacrosse, it is a premier destination for high-level championship competition.
Elite Capacity & Atmosphere: Following significant renovations completed in 2020 and 2021, the stadium features a seating capacity of 18,500. It is known for its electric atmosphere, particularly the south end zone known as "The Cockpit," where the dedicated student section and marching band create a formidable home-field advantage.
Whitney Athletic Center: This $60 million, state-of-the-art facility borders the stadium's western facade. It provides student-athletes with world-class academic support, a 10,000-square-foot strength and conditioning center, and advanced sports medicine suites. For spectators, it introduced the Stadium Club, featuring premium bar and food services with exclusive club seating.
High-Performance Surface: The field, named in honor of Hall of Fame coach Tubby Raymond, features a professional-grade synthetic FieldTurf surface. This durable, all-weather field allows for heavy use by multiple programs while maintaining peak playing conditions.
Modern Amenities: Recent upgrades include a massive Daktronics videoboard in the north end zone, upgraded lighting for night games, and enhanced restrooms and concessions. Select west-side seating now includes chair backs and cup holders for a premium fan experience.
Championship History: A frequent host of the NCAA Division I Men’s Lacrosse Quarterfinals, the stadium has a long history of hosting national-caliber events. As the Blue Hens transition into Conference USA at the FBS level, the stadium continues to evolve as a top-tier facility for elite collegiate sports.
Events Hosted: NCAA Division III football and lacrosse, High School football and lacrosse, Bands of America, and Drum Corps International.
The Delaware Field House is a cornerstone of the university's athletic history, having evolved from a premier basketball arena in the 20th century to a vital multi-sport indoor training and competition hub today.
Indoor Turf Facility: The center of the Field House features a 70-yard indoor turf field, providing an elite, climate-controlled environment for training and competition. The field is professionally lined for Football, Soccer, and both Men’s and Women’s Lacrosse, ensuring that Blue Hen teams can maintain peak performance year-round, regardless of outside weather conditions.
Specialized Equipment: To support a wide variety of sports, the facility is equipped with drop-down batting cages for baseball and softball, as well as integrated soccer goals. It also houses a dedicated Erg Room for the rowing program.
Capacity & Amenities: The Field House includes a seating section for approximately 500 spectators, making it an intimate venue for smaller competitions and showcases. Beyond the field, it serves as the primary home for administrative offices and specialized locker rooms for the Tennis, Rowing, Baseball, and Men’s Lacrosse programs.
Hosted Events: Football Pro Day, JBJ Volleyball, Philadelphia Area Disc Alliance, Delaware FC, and Pegasus Softball.
Rullo Stadium is a premier, sport-specific facility and the dedicated home of the Blue Hens Field Hockey program. As the home turf of the 2016 NCAA National Champions, the stadium is recognized as one of the finest field hockey venues in the nation.
Elite Playing Surface: The stadium features a specialized AstroTurf-12 surface, a professional-grade water-based turf system designed for the high-speed, technical demands of elite field hockey. The facility spans 2.82 acres, providing a fast and consistent playing environment.
Seating & Fan Experience: The stadium comfortably seats approximately 2,000 spectators in elevated aluminum bleachers, offering excellent sightlines of the pitch. Fans benefit from a modern sound system and a dedicated multi-sport scoreboard.
Professional Infrastructure: To support championship-level competition and broadcasts, Rullo Stadium is equipped with a professional press box and six Musco lighting poles featuring 92 fixtures, allowing for high-definition night games and televised events.
Multi-Sport Versatility: While it is the primary hub for Field Hockey, the stadium’s durable surface and professional lighting also make it a valuable training and competition site for various teams and clubs in the region.
Championship Pedigree: Rullo Stadium has a rich history of hosting prestigious postseason events, including multiple Conference Championships and NCAA Tournament matches. Its reputation for excellence makes it a preferred neutral site for regional high school and collegiate playoffs.

Located just east of Delaware Stadium, Grant Stadium is a premier outdoor competition venue and the dedicated home of the Blue Hens men’s and women’s soccer programs and women’s outdoor track & field team.
Elite Playing Surface: The stadium features a professional-grade natural Bermuda grass field, widely recognized as one of the finest natural playing surfaces in the region. The field is equipped with a high-performance drainage and irrigation system to maintain championship conditions year-round.
Track & Field Excellence: Surrounding the pitch is a quarter-mile, eight-lane Beynon all-weather track with a high-performance blue embedded surface. The facility includes specialized areas for field events, including pole vault, high jump, long jump, and triple jump.
Seating & Atmosphere: Following a major renovation in 2014, the stadium’s capacity was expanded to 1,400 spectators. The elevated grandstands provide excellent sightlines for fans, and the venue is equipped with a modern sound system and a state-of-the-art Daktronics videoboard.
Broadcast & Media Ready: To support high-level regional and televised events, the stadium features a 48-foot, climate-controlled press box that accommodates up to 24 people, topped with a dedicated tower platform for film and television crews. The venue is fully lighted by six Musco lighting poles with 92 fixtures for night competitions.

Bob Hannah Stadium is the proud home of the Blue Hens Baseball team. Renamed in 2000 to honor Hall of Fame coach Bob Hannah—the winningest coach in Delaware history—the stadium is recognized as one of the premier collegiate baseball facilities in the Mid-Atlantic region.
Advanced Playing Surface: The stadium features a fully artificial turf surface, which was completely replaced in 2024. This high-performance turf, coupled with a sophisticated drainage system, allows for year-round play and quick recovery from inclement weather.
Professional Grade Features: The facility includes two heated, full-sized dugouts on the first and third baselines, as well as home and visiting bullpens each equipped with three mounds. A dedicated batting cage is located on the home side for pre-game and practice sessions.
Modern Amenities & Lighting: The venue is fully equipped with Musco lighting for night games and a professional press box to accommodate media, marketing, and broadcast personnel. The outfield dimensions are set at a challenging 330' to right, 320' to left, and 400' to center field.
Capacity: The stadium comfortably seats approximately 1,500 spectators, offering an intimate but energetic atmosphere for fans. Recent aesthetic upgrades include "302" branded padding behind home plate, further showcasing Delaware pride.
Hosted Events: San Diego Padres Pre-Draft workouts, NCAA Division II and III baseball, High School baseball, and various youth clubs.
Freshly renovated for the 2025 season, the Delaware Diamond Softball Stadium is a premier destination for softball in the region. This high-performance facility provides an elite environment for both the Blue Hens Softball program and major championship events. The stadium renovations also included an expanded press box facilities, a bathroom and concessions building, a roof structure for the home bullpen, and new covered batting cages.
Modern Playing Surface & Amenities: The stadium features a state-of-the-art synthetic turf field designed for durability and consistent play. Upgrades include padded field fencing, a new videoboard, and stadium field lights for night competition. To ensure athlete comfort in early-season play, the dugouts are equipped with integrated heaters.
Capacity & Atmosphere: With a seating capacity of approximately 750 spectators, the stadium offers an intimate and high-energy atmosphere for fans. The facility is a frequent host for prestigious events, including Conference Championships and the DIAA (Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association) State Playoffs.
Strategic Event Hub: Its combination of top-tier amenities and professional infrastructure makes it a preferred site for both intercollegiate tournaments and high-stakes high school postseason play, further cementing its role as a centerpiece of Delaware’s athletic complex.
